
Maple Syrup and Pecan Apple Crumble
1. Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan) / 350°F / Gas 4.
2. Prepare the filling:
In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, lemon zest and juice, and a pinch of salt. Pour into a baking dish and spread evenly.
3. Make the crumble topping:
In a separate bowl, rub the flour and butter together with your fingertips until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats, sugar, pecans, and maple syrup until the mix clumps slightly.
4. Assemble and bake:
Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the apples. Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling at the edges.
Serve with Warm Maple Custard Sauce (Optional)

There’s nothing quite like the comforting scent of baked apples and spices filling the kitchen on a cool day. This indulgent crumble pairs tart cooking apples with a generous drizzle of pure swallowtail maple syrup, all topped with a buttery pecan-studded crumble that’s golden and crisp.
INGREDIENTS:
For the filling:
• 5 medium cooking apples (e.g. Bramley or Granny Smith), peeled, cored, and sliced
• 3 tbsp maple syrup (preferably dark, robust flavour)
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• ½ tsp ground nutmeg
• 1 tbsp plain flour
• Zest and juice of ½ a lemon
• Pinch of salt
For the crumble topping:
• 100g plain flour
• 75g rolled oats
• 75g cold unsalted butter, cubed
• 50g soft light brown sugar
• 75g chopped pecans
• 2 tbsp maple syrup

- Cook Time: 35–40 mins
